The Early Childhood Camp Counselor is a seasonal part-time position responsible for supervising children, planning activities, and maintaining communication with parents. Qualifications include a high school degree or equivalent, experience in classroom teaching and management, and excellent communication skills.
Requirements
- Responsible for supervising a group of 10-18 children, between the ages of 3-6 yrs, in all indoor and outdoor camp activities and events.
- Plan and lead daily camp activities including games, songs, nature, arts and crafts.
- Take head counts of children after transitioning to each new activity and routinely during the day.
- Meet and greet parents and campers upon arrival and departure.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents and staff to resolve conflicts.
- Assist with emergency procedures and building evacuation when necessary.
- Complete accident/incident reports in a timely manner and turn it in to the site supervisor.
- Attend parent/camper meetings as needed.
- Monitor behavior conduct of campers.
- Document behavioral observations when needed.
- Be fair, consistent, and use appropriate and positive discipline with program participants.
- Provide an inclusive environment for all campers and staff.
- Report to work, staff meeting, and scheduled activities on time.
- Notify Coordinator of any concerns of children's health or safety.
- Exhibit quality leadership and be a good role model.
- Follow and enforce all Rolling Meadows Park District general rules, policies and safety procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of all facilities used and take care of all equipment and/or supplies used.
- Wear a staff shirt, gym shoes and appropriate camp attire every day.
