Samuel Merritt University is seeking a faculty member to teach community health in the BSN program at the Oakland campus. The position combines teaching and service, and the successful candidate will be responsible for creating a dynamic, learner-centered environment and modeling reflective and critical thinking.
Requirements
- Earned master's degree
- Doctorate in nursing or a related field (preferred)
- Current California Public Health Certificate or eligible for certification in California
- Three years' work experience as a public health or community health nurse in California
- Teaching experience of diverse students at the baccalaureate or higher degree level (preferred)
- Unencumbered California registered nurse license or eligible for licensure in California
- Experience working with leadership in healthcare and academic institutions and community organizations (preferred)
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Ability to function effectively as a member of a team and independently
- Commitment to the caring science principles and mindfulness-based stress reduction practices
- Modeling of appropriate ethical and professional behaviors and expert communication skills
