Job Description
The Second Engineer is a member of the vessel’s engineering department responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mechanical, electrical, and propulsion systems. This role involves maintaining the vessel, managing maintenance, and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations. The engineer assists in repair, preventative maintenance, and communicates with relevant departments. The job is based in Kitimat, British Columbia.
Requirements
- A valid 4th Class Engineer ticket (minimum requirement).
- MEDs, Marine Basic First Aid, and Marine Medical are required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as 2nd engineer onboard a similar vessel.
- Understanding of emergency equipment operation (fire fighting, man overboard, etc.).
- Proficiency in vessel operational systems.
