Burton James is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Principal Cutter to oversee all weaving operations of custom furniture. The role involves interpreting work orders, calculating yarn profiles, inspecting fabric for defects, and training the team. This position requires expertise in various fabrics and a commitment to quality and collaboration.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in weaving, preferably in high-end or custom furniture production.
- 8–10+ years of experience is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of all types of fabric for upholstery, including textiles, velvets, leathers, and specialty textiles.
- Proven mastery in pattern placement and yarn calculation for complex and personalized designs.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to the highest quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, drafting plans and technical specifications with accuracy.
- Ability to use safe and efficient weaving tools, including straight knives, rotating cutters, and other standard industry equipment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to train, motivate and support other team members.
