Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) is seeking a Researcher to contribute to the development and maintenance of Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Process Design Kits (PDKs) within the Integrated Photonics Technologies (IPT) research unit. The role involves collaborating with designers and engineers, ensuring PDK compatibility, managing projects, and contributing to scientific communication. SAL offers diverse research activities, state-of-the-art facilities, and a supportive work environment.

Requirements

• PhD (or MSc with equivalent work experience) in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Applied Physics, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in photonic component development, PIC design, layout, and characterization.
• Strong programming skills (e.g., Python or similar languages).
• Familiarity with PIC-related EDA tools and collaborative environments (e.g., Git).
• Self-motivated, well-organized, and enthusiastic about working in a dynamic, multicultural team.
• Strong team player with excellent interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
