The O&M Budget Analyst is responsible for the online O&M budget process, monthly analysis and reporting, and effective communication of budgets and financial issues to management. The role involves regular interaction with management and department leads.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required)
- CPA, MBA, or advanced degree in a related field (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in financial/accounting disciplines including planning, analysis, and budgeting
- 3+ years of experience preferred
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience in operational accounting, budgeting, and cost control (nuclear generation, transmission, distribution, manufacturing is a plus)
- Familiarity with utility accounting and FERC requirements (preferred)
- Understanding of Southern Company’s business model and Alabama Power/Georgia Power ratemaking mechanisms (a plus)
- Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
