Overhead Crew - All Positions (Foreman/A, B , C Lineman/Operator/Groundman

Sumter Utilities, Inc. is seeking entire Overhead Crews (Foreman/A Lineman/B Lineman/C Lineman/Operator/Groundman) for construction, maintenance, and repair work on energized and de-energized overhead lines. Competitive wages, paid vacation and holidays, and a full benefit package are offered.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Valid Class A CDL
• Proficiency in all aspects of energized line work
• Proficient in operation of Bucket Truck, Digger Derrick, Backhoe, and other equipment
• Ability to read and interpret site plans, construction drawings, and scopes of work
• Ability to work at heights up to and above 60 feet
• Ability to communicate effectively, demonstrate and encourage teamwork skills and able to understand, comprehend, and follow directions in the workplace
• Possession of a valid Class A CDL is HIGHLY PREFERRED
• Able to perform rigorous physical labor as required
• Ability to travel long distances on short notice, when required
• Ability to work for extended periods in various locations, when required
• Ability to work Overtime, when required
• Able/willing to function within a Team environment and share knowledge with fellow crew members as appropriate
• Ability to properly install and remove PPE and cover up
• Ability to work at heights and/or confined spaces
• Ability to properly inspect rubber goods, covers and PPE
• Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so
• Able to identify different types of materials used in line work
• Understands flag and tag procedures
• Capable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape
• Able/willing to work alone on de-energized lines
