Job Description
Provide total patient care by utilizing the nursing process and implementing the standards of peri-procedure nursing. Assume leadership role for the operating/procedure room team and manage the operating/procedure room during the intra-procedure period.
Requirements
- Licensed Registered Nurse
- Ability to receive report and room assignment
- Hand scrubbing according to procedure
- Preparing the room for procedures
- Providing patient care
- Assisting with draping and positioning of patient
- Monitoring operative/procedure field for breaks in technique
- Confining and containing contaminated articles/areas
- Initiating closing counts
- Identifying specimen with attending physician and labeling containers
- Completing procedure nursing records and charge forms
- Providing dressing material to Scrub person and assisting in applying dressing
- Moving waste and linen hampers to the field
- Notifying recovery area nurse of patient arrival
- Assisting anesthesia care provider in transferring patient to recovery area
- Giving report to recovery area nurse
- Placing x-rays, specimens, and procedure records in designated locations
- Washing hands
- Checking with Administrative Director/designee for changes in case or room assignment
