Peer Specialist

The Bright Corner Respite Center (CRC), a part of Parachute NYC, provides a 'hospital diversion' model for individuals experiencing mental health crisis, offering a warm, safe, and supportive environment with 24-hour peer support. The role focuses on trauma-informed care, NATM, and the need-adapted treatment model, assisting with key aspects of recovery and goal-setting. The center utilizes need-adapted treatment, and provides short-term recovery services, addressing mental health needs.

Requirements

• Develop a partnership with guests experiencing crisis utilizing trauma-informed, recovery oriented, intentional peer support.
• Practice NATM and Intentional Peer Support after training.
• Assist with pre-registration and intake for guests.
• Assist with wellness self-management, WRAP, and peer support.
• Assist with goal-setting and participation in educational, wellness and skill building opportunities.
• Follow-up with guests and report progress.
• Assist with needs-based healthcare access and managing the living environment.
