Manager, Hardware Engineering

Symbotic is seeking a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead a team of mechanical engineers responsible for designing, developing, and delivering robust automated machinery and robotic systems. The ideal candidate has a background in mechanical, electrical, or robotics engineering, with hands-on experience in machinery design, integration, and safety compliance.

Requirements

• Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team of mechanical engineers.
• Manage resource allocation, workload distribution, and technical training initiatives.
• Foster collaboration between mechanical, electrical, controls, and software teams.
• Oversee the mechanical design and development of conveyors, sorters, lifts, palletizers, de-palletizers, and custom robotic systems.
• Review and approve detailed design drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
• Ensure all designs meet company standards for manufacturability, serviceability, and safety.
• Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and FMEA activities.
• Provide guidance on machine design, motion systems, and integration with robotic and control systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI, ISO, RIA).
• Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex mechanical or system issues.
• Collaborate with Project Management, Manufacturing, and Field Service teams to ensure on-time, high-quality project delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement in design methods, standardization, and documentation.
• Participate in technology roadmapping and contribute to long-term product strategy.
