Laboratory Assistant II

Performs routine technical and clerical functions, including specimen registration and billing, venipuncture/capillary puncture, and laboratory testing. Assists in microbiology processing and plating specimens.

Requirements

• Performs venous and capillary phlebotomy
• Maintains specimen integrity and follows proper labeling protocols
• Tests specimens for clinical studies in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Reports lab results accurately and responsively
• Inputs and retrieves data from the laboratory computer system
• Performs basic clerical functions
• Assists in stocking and maintaining laboratory supply inventory
• Assists with training phlebotomists or laboratory students
• Operate basic laboratory equipment, computers and medical software
• Uses, maintains and cleans laboratory equipment and uses protective equipment
