Performs routine technical and clerical functions, including specimen registration and billing, venipuncture/capillary puncture, and laboratory testing. Assists in microbiology processing and plating specimens.
Requirements
- Performs venous and capillary phlebotomy
- Maintains specimen integrity and follows proper labeling protocols
- Tests specimens for clinical studies in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Reports lab results accurately and responsively
- Inputs and retrieves data from the laboratory computer system
- Performs basic clerical functions
- Assists in stocking and maintaining laboratory supply inventory
- Assists with training phlebotomists or laboratory students
- Operate basic laboratory equipment, computers and medical software
- Uses, maintains and cleans laboratory equipment and uses protective equipment
