DSP - East 38th Street

The New York Foundling supports individuals with developmental disabilities, providing a variety of services like residential options, health services, and employment. They work to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live fulfilling lives, actively engaging in the community and accessing quality care. This role focuses on ensuring individuals' safety, implementing their individual care plans, and promoting a positive environment.

Requirements

• Ensure appropriate supervision, health and safety of individuals.
• Advocate for individuals in the community (medical appointments, church, recreation activities etc.).
• Ensure individual’s plan of care is implemented.
• Assist in daily living skills (e.g. personal hygiene, food preparation, house keeping, laundry, shopping) - Maintain facility in compliance with the OPWDD and COA standards.
• Complete daily progress notes and other individual logs.
• Maintain updated certifications in CPR/first aid, SCIP, and AMAP.
• Provide atmosphere conducive to positive behavior.
• Assist in providing spiritual development.
• Assist in providing ethical and moral values.
• Transport and escort individuals on recreational activities, medical appointment, home visits, etc. - Assist in development of social skills.
