Applied Scientist Intern - Summer 2026

Thomson Reuters Labs is seeking an Applied Scientist Intern with a passion for problem-solving using state-of-the-art Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing techniques. The role involves experimenting, developing, and delivering high-quality solutions as part of a diverse and interdisciplinary global team.

Requirements

• PhD program in a relevant discipline or Master's program with research experience
• Understanding and experience with Natural Language Processing, and/or Machine Learning methods including Large Language Models
• Experience creating and evaluating experiments related to Machine Learning or Large Language Models
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (preferably Python) and experience working in the Cloud (preferably AWS)
• Experience with ML/NLP libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, spaCy, LangChain, and HuggingFace
• Comfortable working with unstructured datasets and knowledgeable about tools and techniques for data cleaning and processing
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
