Naval Architect, Journeyman (USCG/Navy/DOD)

THOR Solutions is seeking a mid-level Naval Architect to support marine engineering efforts for the U.S. Coast Guard, Navy, and commercial shipbuilding. The ideal candidate will have experience in shipbuilding programs, standards, and regulations and will be able to perform technical support, engineering studies, and design development. The position requires a DoD Secret security clearance.

Requirements

• Provide technical support and documentation for ship feasibility, concept, preliminary and contract design.
• Evaluate systems and equipment, develop requirements, perform studies and documentation relating to hull form, stability, weights, structures, and design.
• Develop system documentation and ship specifications for surface assets and boats.
• Conduct analyses on stability studies, assist with inclining experiments and weight and stability tests, and oversee design development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or another relevant technical field.
• At least three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in naval architecture.
• Experience with computer applications relating to naval architecture and ship design.
• Experience with corrosion principles of metals for surface assets and boats.
• Familiarity with USN, USCG, IACS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
• Proficient with common productivity software.
