Part-time Science Teacher Development Coach – Buffalo Urban Teaching Fellows (BUTF) seeks experienced educators to support aspiring teachers in Buffalo, NY. The role involves coaching and mentoring Fellows pursuing science certification in New York State.
Requirements
- Current NY teaching certification in science
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in science subject areas in New York schools
- Strong familiarity and experience supporting early career teachers with planning and implementing strong Tier 1 instruction in science aligned with New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS)
- Experience and comfort observing and providing direct feedback to teachers, both written and verbal, that leads to immediate teacher improvement
- Experience leading and facilitating professional development and/or meetings with teachers
- Demonstrated ability to connect with adult learners quickly to build strong working and mentoring relationships
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire adults, particularly in making others comfortable to take risks and try innovative teaching techniques
- Exceptional skills in time management, including the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A positive outlook, flexibility, and sense of possibility
- Evidence of working successfully in teams and cooperative settings
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to utilize quantitative and qualitative analysis to support decision-making and teacher development
- Have access to reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license to travel between partner school sites as needed
