Job Description
The Emergency Department Technician works cooperatively with all team members to provide technical patient care services, assisting nurses and physicians in their functions.
Requirements
- Collects, documents and ensures the data related to the health status of patients is communicated to the RN/MD and any changes that occur as soon as possible.
- Performs tasks/procedures as directed, including connecting patients to bedside monitors, completing and ordering 12 lead EKG's, collecting and recording Intake and Output, collecting specimens for and completing point of care testing, and completing quality control validation on all devices.
- Recognizes abnormal findings from assessment and reports them immediately to ED provider.
- Assists ED Provider with bedside procedures such as Chest Tube insertion, Lumbar Puncture, Suturing, and Splinting.
- Provides health care services to patients of various age groups, including Infancy, Toddler, Pre-School, School Age, Adolescent, Adulthood, and Older Adult.
