Job Description
This Director of Big Data & Machine Learning Engineering role focuses on leading and scaling a team to build and enhance data processing and machine learning platforms for a leading audio streaming company. The role involves shaping technical strategy, driving the execution of scalable platforms, and mentoring a high-performing team. The company values innovation, team growth, and technical excellence.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of Data Management Platforms (DMPs), audience segmentation, and first-party data.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams in Big Data and/or ML-focused environments.
- Deep technical expertise in Scala and Python, along with Big Data frameworks such as Apache Spark.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, real-time data processing, and data modeling at scale.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- A solid background in ML Engineering/MLOps, including Airflow and model monitoring.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- A mindset rooted in Agile values, team empowerment, and continuous improvement.
- 8+ years of experience in data/ML engineering
- 3+ years in people management or tech leadership
