Job Description
A well-established commercial construction and construction management firm is seeking a Construction Estimator to join their team in New England. The role reports to the President and CEO and is central to shaping accurate cost estimates and winning commercial project bids.
Requirements
- Review bid documents thoroughly and assess risk, constructability, logistics, sequencing, phasing, and schedule constraints
- Develop bid strategies with the internal team to ensure competitive and accurate proposals
- Perform detailed trade and vendor take-offs and level costs for accuracy and scope alignment
- Prepare scopes of work, detailed estimates, and complete proposal packages with CSI breakdowns, alternates, allowances, qualifications, and exclusions
- Communicate collaboratively with trades, vendors, design teams, clients, and internal stakeholders throughout pre-construction
- Build and maintain positive trade partner and vendor relationships and grow the company's database
- Lead RFQ setup and distribution with support from the Assistant Estimator
- Attend and document pre-bid meetings, prepare preliminary schedules, and create value engineering options
- Enter cost codes and budgets into the company's construction management software and organize bid documentation
- Support the project management team with buy-out tasks and change order pricing as needed
