Job Description
Bowhead is seeking a Sr. PostgreSQL Database Architect to support Naval Surface Warfare Center - Corona's AR/PA IT Program. This role involves analyzing complex technical issues, leading database performance, designing and managing data integrity, and collaborating with multiple teams. The architect will report to the Program Manager and ensure projects are designed for cost, schedule, and social impact.
Requirements
- Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret or higher required)
- CompTIA Security+ (CE) certification
- Seven (7+) years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing PostgreSQL databases in enterprise or government environments
- Expert knowledge of database architecture, data modeling, indexing, and query optimization
- Experience with database security controls, backup and disaster recovery planning
- Proficient in PostgreSQL replication, partitioning, and performance tuning
- Experience with cloud-based PostgreSQL (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with STIGs and DoD security hardening requirements
- Ability to lead architecture reviews, data governance discussions, and integration with other platforms
- Strong documentation and communication skills
