Job Description
Umbra is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced systems from sensors to spacecraft, supporting both remote sensing and communication applications. The role is vertically integrated within the Space Systems business unit, involving technical excellence, ownership, and mentorship of junior engineers. The ideal candidate will blend traditional spacecraft design principles with agile commercial methodologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field
- 5-8+ years of experience in aerospace engineering
- Hands-on experience with LEO space systems and subsystems
- Understanding of software/hardware integration
- Proven ability to apply engineering judgment
- Demonstrated expertise in developing, documenting, and tracking space system requirements
- Proficiency in Agile development practices
- Effective at providing constructive feedback
- Familiarity with model-based systems engineering
- Experience with high performance payloads and software defined wireless systems
- Familiarity with Jama requirements management
- Experience with and proficiency for fishbone analysis
- Experience as a technical lead in systems engineering
