The Recreation Specialist coordinates and presents specialized recreation programs and activities at an assigned recreation facility. The position requires a resident of Wyandotte county or willingness to relocate within 12 months. A post-offer physical examination, drug screen, proof of identity, and employment eligibility are also required.
Requirements
- Plans, implements, and evaluates specialized recreation programs and activities
- Assists in developing goals and objectives for specialized recreation programs
- Promotes and publicizes programs for assigned recreation facility
- Supervises, coaches and instructs indoor and outdoor team and athletic events
- Conducts activity and sports administration and registration functions
- Interacts with community groups and members of the public
- Enforces rules and regulations of recreational facilities
- Greet new arrivals to activities and encourages participation
- Provide for entertainment and set up and break down related decorations and equipment
- Confer with management to discuss and resolve participant complaints
- Manage the daily operations of recreational facilities
- Direct special activities or events as needed
- Evaluate recreation areas, facilities, and services
- Meet and collaborate with agency personnel, community organizations, and other professional personnel
- Serve as liaison between recreation administrators and activity instructors
- Complete and maintain time and attendance forms
- Develop, design or create new ideas, relationships, and programs
- Participate in the maintenance and cleaning of facilities and grounds
- Respond in a timely manner to citizen inquiries, requests and complaints
