Job Description
The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools is seeking a temporary Mandarin/Chinese Long-Term Substitute Teacher to fill a position on maternity leave. The teacher will work with students in lower school (3rd to 5th grade) and middle school (grades 6-8) and will be responsible for teaching Mandarin Chinese courses. The ideal candidate will have experience in world language instruction and knowledge of curriculum design and instruction in the World Language Department at Lab is guided by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Teaching lower school (3rd to 5th grade) and middle school (grades 6-8) courses in Mandarin Chinese
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across faculties and departments, as well as parents, administrators, and other members of the school staff
- Designing and implementing curriculum and instructional materials
- Assessing student progress and providing feedback
