The University of Miami has an excellent opportunity for an Employee Relations Specialist. The Employee Relations Specialist manages an array of investigative and compliance-related activities on behalf of the Office of Employee Relations. This individual works independently, and initiates and/or performs investigative activities, as directed.
Requirements
- Prepares investigative plans identifying the bases and issues involved
- Investigates internal and external complaints/charges involving discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation
- Prepares responses to external charges and internal complaints for review and approval by supervisor
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of job-related legislation, regulations and guidance
- Provides support, guidance and training to individuals on employee relations, diversity and equal opportunity topics
- Manages and administers a broad range of tasks, including resolving complaints, counseling individuals on University’s policies and procedures
- Assists in administering the University’s Equal Opportunity/ Affirmative Action programs
- Liaises with other functional units within Human Resources
- Assists in the management of the department’s case management system
- Conducts all aspects of the job with appropriate level of confidentiality and sensitivity to employee and organizational data
- Represents the department before various groups and entities
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets
