Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, filling new medication orders, preparing stock medications, and performing other duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Fill new medication orders and cassettes and prepare for Pharmacist's review.
- Assist in reconciliation of missing orders and doses and complete required documentation.
- Deliver stock medications and place in appropriate storage location.
- Complete all assigned charging and crediting functions, including from miscellaneous sources.
- Prepackage medications, such as oral liquids, simple batch compounding, and starter doses for review.
- Stock medications to their appropriate locations, rotate stock as necessary and check outdates, and assist in maintaining adequate stock levels.
- Maintain assigned inspection section and check outdates monthly.
- Enter appropriate information-such as NDC, manufacturer, bar-code, lot #, expiration date-for each medication being packaged.
- Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, and Staff Pharmacist including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
- Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow.
- Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
