Job Description
The Corrections Officer at the Van Buren County Jail focuses on maintaining a secure and humane environment for inmates, responding to orders from a Corrections Sergeant, and enforcing jail rules. This role requires knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws and the ability to interact with inmates and other stakeholders. It is full-time and involves a shift pattern of evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- Book, finger print and take the picture of prisoners.
- Safeguard in mate's personal belongings and return to them upon release.
- Screen inmates for medical and psychological conditions.
- Physically and verbally control disruptive inmates.
- Escort and retain custody of inmates removed for jail approved functions.
