The Teacher - Special Education /Intervention Specialist will use blended-flipped learning to personalize the education of their students and create an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and supports school goals and programs.
Requirements
- Plan appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned at appropriate grade level
- Collaborate with general education teachers to plan for cotaught/supported classes
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Adapt/modify learning materials to student needs
- Keep track of and reflect on student progress to school team and families
- Monitor student behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions if needed
- Coach/mentor other professionals who work with children with disabilities
- Collaborate with the support staff (e.g. school counselors and speech therapists) to create holistic intervention plans
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal diagnostic testing
- Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for special education teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Participate in student support committees as appropriate.
- Develop and modify annual IEPs including goals and accommodations for caseload.
- Call, message, and email families of all caseload students weekly regarding progress. Make notes in portal every time.
- Troubleshoot parent and student issues for all caseload students as they occur.
- Schedule and develop appropriate IEP’s, for transition, annual and triennial meetings.
- Progress monitor student IEP goals
- Complete progress reports for all students on caseload
- Maintain confidentiality.
