Deputy Editor, Intelligencer

We are looking for a Deputy Editor to shape and run New York's news and politics coverage. The ideal candidate will have strong news judgment, a feel for Intelligencer's voice, and the ability to generate and refine high-quality story ideas.

Requirements

• At least six years of experience doing journalistic work that overlaps with Intelligencer's aims
• Strong record of publishing high-quality reporting, smart commentary, and timely news coverage
• Proven skill as an editor, with experience editing features, guiding reporting projects, managing daily coverage, and writing or refining headlines
• History of productive collaboration with writers, editors, and cross-functional teams
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and operate confidently within a fast-paced news cycle
• Clear communication and strong organizational skills
