Applications and Support Scientist - Molecular Diagnostics

Watchmaker is seeking an Applications and Support Scientist - Molecular Diagnostics to assist customers with product selection, evaluate Watchmaker products, and support product adoption. This role involves remote and in-person work with a focus on demonstrating proof of concept and contributing to customer collateral. The ideal candidate will have hands-on molecular biology experience and be able to clearly communicate scientific concepts to a technical audience.

Requirements

• BA/BS plus 6+ years experience, or MS plus 4+ years experience, or PhD plus 0-2+ years experience
• Experience in biotech and a start-up environment are highly desirable
• Degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field required
• Proven ability to execute molecular biology experiments including study design, lab work, and data interpretation with minimal supervision
• Deep understanding of enzymology and nucleic acid detection techniques including extraction, reverse transcription, PCR, qPCR, isothermal amplification (RCA, RPA), reporter assays, etc.
• Strong scientific communication skills
• Previous customer facetime and experience providing technical support are preferred but not required
• NGS knowledge or experience preferred but not required
