The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is seeking a dynamic and adaptable community conservation manager to implement a community conservation intervention program for the Okapi Wildlife Reserve (RFO). The RFO's community conservation program is diverse and includes activities within the reserve and its 50km buffer zone.
Requirements
- Master's degree in social or environmental sciences
- 5-10 years of experience on the ground with international organizations in Africa working on community conservation and natural resource management
- Experience in implementing activities funded by major bilateral and multilateral donors
- Proven ability to manage, motivate, and train field personnel
- Proven ability to develop work plans and budgets, implement MEAL systems, and produce project progress reports
- Proven ability to design and conduct socio-economic research in international development contexts
- Proven ability to work sensitively with diverse groups, including cultures, nationalities, and origins
- Knowledge and understanding of project logistics and financial management in complex environments
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English; Kiswahili is an asset
- Strong commitment to wildlife and flora conservation
- Innovative, proactive, resilient, team-oriented, and ambitious
- Willingness to live in a remote field site with basic amenities in a multicultural environment
