Assignment Editor

WINK News has an immediate opening for an Assignment Editor to help coordinate news coverage, dispatch crews, and populate our website. The ideal candidate has solid news skills, strong leadership, and organizational and communication ability.

Requirements

• Monitor various news sources, including scanners, social media, and news wires, to identify breaking news and story leads.
• Support the assignment desk by researching news stories, verifying facts, and assisting in story development.
• Collaborate with reporters, photographers, and newsroom personnel to coordinate coverage assignments and logistical arrangements.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in newsroom databases and systems.
• Create and publish compelling digital content across web, mobile, and social platforms in alignment with newsroom priorities.
• Execute daily social media strategy, including platform-specific posting, breaking-news coverage, and audience engagement.
• Collaborate with reporters, producers, and editors for digital & streaming distribution.
