Job Description
The Coding Specialist is responsible for accurate coding of procedures from medical records to ensure optimal reimbursement while staying compliant with OIG, CMS, and regulatory agencies. They will manage charge review and coding-related claim edit work queues, review medical records, and consult with physicians/providers as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of coding experience and certification required
- CCS for Inpatient and CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H for Outpatient certification
- RHIA or RHIT certification (preferred)
- Knowledge of CMS rules and regulations (preferred)
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding (preferred)
- Interpersonal teamwork skills
- Basic Microsoft Excel and Word knowledge
- Medical billing knowledge
- Analytical skills
- Organizational skills
