Policy Advisor

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs is seeking a Policy Advisor to provide policy advice on the Assessment Model Review and other assessment and taxation projects. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of legislation, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement to ensure Alberta's property assessment and taxation policies remain accurate, current, and effective.

Requirements

• University graduation in a related field such as Business, Economics, Management, Political Science, Public Policy
• 4 years of related experience in program and policy research, analysis, development, and implementation
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex public policy issues
• Knowledge of research and information management skills
• Demonstrated ability to research and analyze issues critically
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Knowledge of municipal operations, particularly in the area of assessment and taxation
• Knowledge of the regulated assessment and taxation process in Alberta
• Strong knowledge of the Government of Alberta's legislative and regulatory policy development and approval processes
