Job Description
Applied Physics is seeking a highly motivated Seismologist to join their gravitational ranging team. The role involves conducting original research on induced seismicity and reservoir geomechanics, working on projects such as geothermal energy, carbon storage, waste disposal, and unconventional oil and gas projects. This involves fieldwork, data analysis, and report writing.
Requirements
- PhD in Seismology, Geophysics, Earth Science, Data Science, or related field
- Experience with high-performance computing, numerical earthquake simulation, statistical and physics-based operational earthquake forecasting, and seismic hazard analysis
- Experience with computer systems and Python, C/C++, R, Java, shell scripting, Mac or PC, Unix or Linux platforms, or other data management approaches
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, presentations, and team interaction
- Experience with earthquake physics, geophysical monitoring, and applying machine learning methods
