We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer III to lead the design, programming, and implementation of electrical and control systems for advanced automated equipment. The role involves leading large, multi-module automation projects, ensuring all systems meet customer requirements, internal standards, and regulatory expectations.
Requirements
- Lead the development of controls architecture for large, multi-module automation systems.
- Program control and vision systems for cam, servo, and air-operated stations, as well as test and electrical devices.
- Ensure electrical design and software architecture are functional, robust, and cost-effective.
- Incorporate ATS Life Sciences Chicago standards and regulatory requirements into every design.
- Research, specify, and select appropriate components and materials.
- Develop and maintain electrical wiring schematics, flow diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and release documentation.
- Participate in internal and customer design reviews, installations, and service calls as needed.
- Guide and support electricians in wiring and code compliance.
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify functional and economical design solutions.
- Contribute to project execution plans, ensuring adherence to schedule and budget.
- Troubleshoot and debug software issues alongside Mechanical Builders and Electricians.
- Document changes and updates thoroughly.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to Controls Engineers I and II.
