Painter

BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship Repair Division is seeking a Painter with experience in surface preparation and coating application operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and ability to follow directions, with a thorough knowledge of equipment used in surface preparation and coating operations. The individual must be able to work with limited supervision and be willing to train subordinates.

• Ability to interpret job specifications, instruction manuals, and manufacturer’s handbooks
• Ability to comply with Company safety rules and OSHA standards
• Ability to handle hazardous materials/waste in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and in accordance with procedures
• Ability to make-up and set-up high pressure wash equipment, hoses and lines
• Ability to run high pressure wash equipment
• Ability to high pressure wash blast at better than a 400 sq-ft per hour rate
• Ability to set-up solvent cleaning equipment
• Ability to solvent clean at a 250 sq-ft per hour rate
• Ability to make-up and set-up blast equipment, hoses and lines
• Ability to run blast equipment
• Ability to dry grit blast clean at better than a 100 sq-ft per hour rate
• Ability to sandblast and paint in confined spaces
• Ability to make-up and set-up UHP Water Jet equipment, hoses and lines
• Ability to run UHP Water Jet equipment
• Ability to UHP Water Jet clean at better than a 70 sq-ft per hour rate
• Ability to mix and thin all types of coatings as instructed in written specification or work package
• Ability to proficiently spray with conventional and airless spray guns
• Ability to check mil thickness and record data in work package
• Ability to comply with NESHAP requirements
• Ability to store and dispose of empty paint and solvent cans
