Principal Systems Architect

BlackSky is a real-time intelligence company seeking a Principal Satellite Ground Segment Architect to design, implement, and maintain their space-based intelligence platform. This role focuses on the architecture of ground subsystems, including software, hardware, and data analysis, requiring strong collaboration skills and a deep understanding of satellite and space systems. The position reports to the CTO and will collaborate across various technical and business teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• At least 15 years of relevant experience with five (5) years’ experience in the remote sensing industry.
• Strong knowledge of satellite ground system architectures and design of satellite ground systems.
• US-born citizen.
• Experience architecting complex software systems.
• Familiarity with Software Engineering best practices and process including agile development.
• Knowledge of software enterprise design patterns.
