The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the Vehicle and Transportation Infrastructure Maintenance Team, including evaluation and improvement of condition, renewal and reconditioning of fleet vehicles and transportation infrastructure, and managing project consultations, information requests, and related communications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or Applied Science, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering profile, or in a related field that includes courses related to project management or facility management.
- At least five (5) years of relevant experience and in increasing responsibility positions related to design, construction, and reconditioning of installations or vehicles or material infrastructure (linear) network, including at least three (3) years of experience in project construction management or facility management.
- Knowledge of the issues or principles that intervene in the provision of public transportation in Ottawa;
- Be aware of transportation operations and trends;
- Be aware of the acquisition of goods and the life cycle management for main goods, programs, and processes related to public transportation;
- Know the principles of project management, including design, development, and implementation of projects, cost compression and control, evaluation methods and techniques, risk management, and report production;
- Be aware of federal and provincial laws and regulations governing building construction;
- Know Commission for Technical Standards and Safety regulations and codes regarding elevators;
- Canada automotive vehicle safety standards, Ontario Highway Traffic Act;
- Know cost-benefit analysis and related techniques;
- Be aware of contract management and expert advice surveillance;
- Know the processes of drafting request for qualifications, request for proposals, and procurement and contract processes, including acceptance, examination, and selection of submissions or offers;
- Know interpersonal communication techniques applied in project management in the context of initiating, negotiating, or controlling changes to contracts, negotiating with service providers to obtain deliverable products in accordance with approved scope limits, and finalizing client expectations;
- Be aware of protocols for developing presentations, major reports, or speeches;
- Know project budget establishment processes;
- Be aware of software applications, including project management, scheduling, and cost control software, computer-aided design (CAD), Microsoft Office suite, email, and use of intranet and internet;
- Be aware of cutting-edge methods, materials, processes, and practices in construction within the sector;
- Know relevant health and safety laws, including workers' rights and obligations.
