Job Description
The Lead Mechanical Engineer (Analyst) is responsible for directing and executing structural, thermal, and opto-mechanical analyses for high-performance optical systems like telescopes and beam directors. This role involves designing, validating, and characterizing systems, preparing analysis reports, and supporting environmental testing. The position requires expertise in FEA, structural mechanics, and optics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 7 years of experience in a professional role with a bachelor’s degree, or 5 years of experience with a master’s degree; or 3 years of experience with a doctorate in a relevant field.
- Expertise in finite element analysis (FEA); Femap with NX Nastran or SimCenter 3D preferred.
- Strong knowledge of structural mechanics, heat transfer, and dynamics.
