Job Description
The Lead Mechanical Engineer (Analyst) will direct the development of high-performance opto-mechanical systems, including telescopes and related instruments. This role involves structural, thermal, and dynamic analyses, utilizing both methods, and supporting operations and survival tests. The engineer will ensure system survivability, alignment, and optical performance under operational and survival loads, preparing analysis reports and test requirements.
Requirements
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Expertise in finite element analysis (FEA) with Femap.
- Strong knowledge of structural mechanics, heat transfer, and dynamics.
- Experience with thermal-structural coupling and integrated opto-mechanical performance characterization.
- Familiarity with optical performance metrics.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
