Director, Business Development

We are looking for a Director, Business Development to lead the advanced sales cycle, converting qualified opportunities into closed deals by building strong client relationships, understanding customer needs, and crafting winning solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• 8+ years of experience successfully originating and closing complex deals with large electricity consumers and/or utilities
• Ability to proactively manage each step of the sales cycle, from lead identification and cold calling to negotiating a definitive contract
• Ability to manage customers and move towards a quick close through timely and succinct communication, robust meeting preparation, creating urgency in deals, and finding solutions to complex problems quickly
• Ability to know how to manage a complex sale and lead multiple deals at different stages
• Ability to have a thorough understanding of how electricity market participants are exposed to various system costs
• Ability to have a strong understanding of distributed generation, commercial and industrial electrical systems, or engineering concepts related to industrial processes
• Ability to be organized and numerate
• Ability to have excellent communication skills and the ability to put together a cohesive narrative in PowerPoint as well as in written documents
• Ability to have strong analytical skills with the ability to dive into models to fully grasp our value proposition and come up with creative solutions for non-standard deals
• Ability to be proactive in finding creative and unique solutions for Convergent and customers
• Ability to work under general autonomy, handle problems and deviations with accepted practices and support from manager
• Ability to work in a team environment and provide guidance to less experienced team members
• Ability to maintain an executive presence
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams to get customer deliverables
