Job Description
The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef and manage the kitchen in their absence. They will be responsible for preparing innovative and creative cuisine, managing kitchen personnel, and maintaining approved food and labor costs.
Requirements
- Assist Executive Chef and manage in his/her absence
- Supervise departmental performance and provide guidance on preparation and cooking of various food items
- Manage hourly kitchen employees through hiring, scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, and evaluating
- Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality daily
- Troubleshoot unexpected or unusual situations in the kitchens
- Oversee preparation of foods and bear responsibility for final food product served
- Follows and enforces all applicable safety procedures specified for kitchen and food services areas
