Medical Assistant (MA) - Westside PRN

We are recruiting for a motivated Medical Assistant (MA) - Westside PRN to join our team! Under general supervision, assists provider including all back office duties. Provides nursing support with various functions such as; invasive procedures, medication administration, performing appointment and registration scheduling functions.

Requirements

• Accurately and efficiently takes vital signs and basic historical patient data.
• Identifies abnormal patient findings.
• Communicates patient concerns or significant changes in patient’s health status to provider or RN.
• Assists provider in setting up for procedures including aseptic and sterile techniques;
• Provides safe administration of medications and immunizations (oral, IM, subcutaneous, and/or intradermal);
• Obtains EKGs, orders appropriate tests as directed by provider;
• Schedules specialty and follow-up appointments as directed by provider.
• Prepares patients for examinations, assists with examinations, cast or splint applications, minor procedures and other medically related tasks within their scope of knowledge.
• Assists in the coordination of clerical information necessary to provide patient care.
• Checks in patient by escorting patients from reception area to exam room and communicates information regarding any extended wait or delay in appointment time.
• Documents accurately and appropriately in patient medical record.
• Reports change in patient condition to appropriate health care provider in a timely manner.
• Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments/supplies.
• Maintains a safe environment by practicing sound safety and infection control practices according to agency policies and procedures.
• Engages in performance appraisal on a routine basis by accepting and providing constructive feedback and integrates feedback into practice.
• May perform phlebotomy and perform various laboratory procedures after competency verified.
• Maintains safe collection and processing of laboratory specimens.
