Diagnoses and treats a variety of diseases and injuries in general practice by performing the following duties.
Requirements
- Elicits and records information about patient's medical history
- Examines patient to determine general physical condition
- Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition
- Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs and performs minor surgery or procedures as appropriate to specialty training
- Provides prenatal care to pregnant women as pre-arranged with a local obstetrician, delivers babies in emergencies, and provides postnatal care to mother and infant
- Reports births, deaths, and outbreaks of contagious diseases to governmental authorities as required
- Makes house and emergency calls within the scope of service to attend to patients unable to visit the center or to whom doing so would be a hardship
- Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, eligibility for insurance coverage surgical procedures, disability
- Represents the organization during itineration, mission events, etc.
- Strives to meet spiritual, mental, and emotional needs of patients as appropriate and available
- Oversee mid-level providers
- Call coverage will be required for after hours and weekends
