Diagnoses and treats a variety of diseases and injuries in general practice by performing the following duties.

Requirements

Elicits and records information about patient's medical history
Examines patient to determine general physical condition
Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition
Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs and performs minor surgery or procedures as appropriate to specialty training
Provides prenatal care to pregnant women as pre-arranged with a local obstetrician, delivers babies in emergencies, and provides postnatal care to mother and infant
Reports births, deaths, and outbreaks of contagious diseases to governmental authorities as required
Makes house and emergency calls within the scope of service to attend to patients unable to visit the center or to whom doing so would be a hardship
Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, eligibility for insurance coverage surgical procedures, disability
Represents the organization during itineration, mission events, etc.
Strives to meet spiritual, mental, and emotional needs of patients as appropriate and available
Oversee mid-level providers
Call coverage will be required for after hours and weekends
