The Coordinator of Orientation and New Student Programs is responsible for planning and execution of all new student orientation and transition programs at Hamline University. The role ensures successful student integration and retention, while also actively supporting broader initiatives and services offered by the department.
Requirements
- Work collaboratively with campus partners to organize and implement the summer, fall and spring orientation programs for new first-year and transfer students.
- Recruit, select, hire, train, motivate and evaluate orientation student staff.
- Develop an intentional first-year experience featuring programs and services for first-year students throughout the academic year.
- Develop and distribute surveys to assess orientation programs and collect data that can inform future programs.
- Manage and monitor the New Student Programs operational budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and adherence to departmental spending guidelines.
- Maintain and update Orientation and New Student Programs websites.
- Represent Orientation and New Student Programs on a variety of University committees to ensure University, state and federal compliance of first-year transition programs.
- Support the programs of Student Activities and Leadership Development as assigned.
- Be familiar and comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and exercise best practices with regard to the maintenance of confidential student information.
- Collaborate with other university staff to serve, support and offer programming for commuter students, including oversight of Commuter Lounge and lockers.
