The Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) provides technical leadership and expertise in the application of Model-Based Systems Engineering methods to design, analyze, and optimize Department of Defense systems.
Requirements
- Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering principles, frameworks, and tools to create digital models that simulate system design, performance, and functionality.
- Develop and maintain system models to support trade studies, requirements analysis, and system verification/validation activities.
- Translate user needs and mission requirements into detailed system models, ensuring alignment with operational objectives.
- Support the integration of MBSE tools and techniques into DoD acquisition processes to reduce lifecycle costs and improve system reliability.
- Design and analyze system architectures, interfaces, and workflows using MBSE methodologies to enhance scalability and modularity within complex systems.
- Ensure integration with existing DoD systems, platforms, and mission-critical networks while maintaining interoperability and security compliance.
- Conduct quantitative analysis to trace system requirements and align system models with mission needs and program goals.
- Identify inconsistencies and gaps in requirements, providing recommendations for corrective actions through MBSE tools.
- Validate and verify modeled architectures against established requirements to ensure systems meet user-defined capabilities.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, system workflows, and performance analyses.
- Create system models and outputs that support communication with technical teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
- Provide regular briefings to program managers and DoD leadership on project models, simulations, and system behavior outcomes.
- Utilize MBSE techniques to identify, mitigate, and monitor risks during system development and integration processes.
- Drive innovation by researching and introducing emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies in the MBSE domain.
- Incorporate lessons learned from prior programs to refine processes and strengthen MBSE implementation across projects.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including system integrators, software developers, cybersecurity professionals, and acquisition personnel.
- Serve as the MBSE Subject Matter Expert (SME) to mentor junior engineers on best practices and emerging technologies.
- Act as a trusted advisor to government stakeholders, providing guidance on how MBSE can improve program outcomes and mission readiness.
