Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles and equipment. The role involves understanding maintenance and breakdown needs and operating the machinery, with potential for on-call availability and emergency breakdowns. This position works in a collaborative environment and contributes to maintaining a safe work area.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license.
• CDL preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in job duties.
• Sanitation or construction industry experience a plus.
• Computer diagnostic experience as diesel technician a plus.
• Experience with troubleshooting/repairing DPF systems diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison transmission, Cummins, CAT, Peterbilt, and Paccar.
• Working knowledge of applicable DOT and OSHA standards and regulations.
• Must be able to speak and read English well enough to converse with colleagues, drivers and dispatch, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records.
