Job Description
The Program Assistant will provide essential 24-hour awake coverage and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the shelter, ensuring the welfare, safety and comfort of guests, and daily support to the shelter guests.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability and willingness to relate with others in a respectful manner and work well as a team member.
- Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of persons who are materially poor and/or homeless, and the ability to be comfortable working with persons of all socioeconomic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner.
- An understanding and respect for the confidentiality of clients.
- Ability to organize oneself, one’s work, and other persons sufficiently to accomplish the required daily tasks.
- Knowledge of floor and building maintenance; basic handyperson skills.
