Category Manager I

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Category Manager I – Consumables & Indirect to develop, implement, and manage sourcing strategies for consumables and indirect materials. This role focuses on optimizing costs, quality, and delivery while improving supply chain efficiencies and maintaining supplier relationships. Responsibilities include managing the consumables purchasing team and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of materials to meet timelines and requirements.

Requirements

• Develop and implement Category Strategy for Assigned Indirect Categories (~50%)
• Identify and engage with internal stakeholders to capture category requirements
• Assess potential opportunities for categories including spend segmentation, category maturity, cost drivers, and supply market analysis
• Develop Sourcing Strategy for categories detailing projects, sourcing levers, timing, resources, and expected benefits
• Manage relationships with key Suppliers at the Leadership level
• Conduct supplier business reviews
• Manage category financial results
• Lead the work of Consumables procurement team
• Foster teamwork, collaboration, and integration within Supply Chain and across Mortenson
• Champion superior customer service
