Job Description
The Nurse Manager is responsible for managing nursing practice and operations on a designated unit/service within the Mount Sinai West Medical Oncology Unit. This role involves clinical leadership, staff recruitment and retention, quality improvement, and collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. The manager ensures high standards of patient care and regulatory compliance while championing a culture of care and innovation.
Requirements
- Demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of Purposeful Hourly Rounding (PHR)
- Ensures the integration of PHR into clinical activities
- Validates staff members round hourly on all patients by direct observation and patient feedback
- Assesses staff competency in PHR and provides consistent meaningful feedback
- Conducts rounding of all patients on a daily basis
- Communicates quantitative and qualitative information regarding the patient experience to the staff
- Collaborates with the physician dyad and escalates concerns as appropriate
- Implements and monitors unit budgets
- Prepares, implements and monitors unit budgets
- Reviews unit progress and changes, and ensures required evaluation of staff competencies
