This is an entry-level position for a field operator (Equipment Operator - Overhead) in the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. The role involves working at various locations, frequently traveling to another state, and performing physically demanding tasks. It is an entry-level position which might require work over-the-weekend or extended hours.
Requirements
- Works safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair of energized and de-energized overhead work.
- Stringing overhead wire.
- Setting poles and anchors.
- Assisting with installing transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches and switchgear.
- Replacing fuses in transformers and clearing faulted circuits.
- Basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying.
- Understanding proper use and maintenance of hand tools.
- Able to identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
- Understanding induced voltage.
- Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
- Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
- Able to lift an excess of 50 lbs.
